  : Customer service was horrendous. Usually hotels have reception available during standard check-in times. At Roma San Pietro, staff is only available to check you in at the one hour window you select upon booking. If you arrive outside this one hour window, you will not have any response at the hotel gate.Faced with this situation at 4pm in a torrential downpour, I rang the hotel bell for 10 minutes before giving up to go find wifi to contact the hotel. There was no sign on the gate with any sort of contact information or explanation why hotel staff was unavailable. The hotel did not message me back, so I contacted booking to handle the situation. They were able to get in contact with the hotel owner and I was told I needed to call the owner to be let in, which posed an issue because I do not have an international phone plan (a common issue for international travelers.) However, the hotel owner refused to communicate in any other way, so I activated an expensive day pass on my phone and called the owner.I was immediately chastised by the owner and he began shouting at me about arriving outside the one hour check-in window. When I protested that I had no notice that I had to check in during this window, though I attempted to check in within the posted acceptable check-in time, the owner told me that he no longer was certain he wanted to let me stay at the hotel, that I needed to be more respectful and then hung up the phone. I called him back and begged him to let me in, as it was still pouring rain outside and I had several pieces of luggage. He finally told me how to get in after telling me my tone was better.As a single female traveller, I am appalled at the way I was treated and the rudeness of the owner. I cannot recommend that anyone stay at this hotel, because your checkin and entire stay will be at the mercy of the capricious owner.
